I have been to Florida with several different airlines, and after flying with Virgin, our party enjoyed the service and luggage allowance and decided to fly with them again. I fly with a disabled son, and need to take extras for him which uses up our allowance. I booked my Florida holiday in March 2010 to fly in October 2011. I have only just found out about this change. I am disgusted – as one of the reasons we go with Virgin is the outstanding service and baggage allowance for our disabled child.

When we booked – the travel agent did not tell us that the baggage allowance had changed. When I went in to ask about it – I was told that I had assumed it was the same. Which was correct as nobody had told me differently. £32 is not a great amount to pay for travelling with an extra case, but it is the principal of the change.

I would expect more from Virgin!!! I am so disappointed and will think twice about flying with them again.

Ryanair has not picked a fight with the Spanish airports, quite the opposite, they have picked a fight with Ryanair and all the airlines that fly to Spain. Thomson, First Choice and Monarch all have stricter carry-on baggage rules than Ryanair… so why the problem? The real issue here appears to be (allegedly) who controls what and who calls the shots, not to mention the fact that passengers can easily buy their duty free on arrival as within the EU duty free does not exist, it was abolished over 10 years ago! It makes good PR to hit on Ryanair, but what next? Airports stopping airlines selling food and drink unless it is purchased in the airport?

I stayed at the Fontainebleu in Miami this year – they have incredible spa facilities there.

If you are in Miami, I’d highly recommend checking this out.

I’ve always travelled with Virgin because of luggage allowance. We go once every 2 years, as we have 6 children. It’s very expensive and now the luggage has been cut. I’ve looked at the internet for alternatives and if you look you can get a different company but they are flights with Virgin so flights become a lot cheaper so I can pay the extra for the luggage I need and the cost does not affect me but with this country going to the dogs the money is scarce. You think they would give other benefits to soften the blow!!!
