Flag carrier British Airways and its new transatlantic partners American Airlines and Iberia revealed one of the flagship facilities for their new team-up this week – a premium lounge at Miami International Airport.
The three carriers received the go-ahead last year for a three-way partnership which they promised would offer more choice of cheap flights to the USA and a greater degree of investment in customer services. The new lounge, jointly-run by the trio, can be found at Miami Airport in concourse E, immediately behind the fifth floor security checkpoint.
The airlines said that the 6,000 square feet area had enough seating for 120 passengers, and provided passengers taking flights to Miami with “additional seamless service”.
Facilities include a fully-equipped business centre with high-speed internet access at its workstations, flat-screen TVs, showers and bathrooms, plus a range of complimentary food and drink. There is even a children’s room to keep the little ones entertained on the way to and from their Miami holidays.
American Airlines’ senior vice-president for Mexico, Caribbean and Latin America Peter Dolara said that the lounge was a “convenient place to relax” for the three airlines’ passengers catching flights to or from Miami. He said: “This lounge provides another customer touchpoint where our representatives can offer seamless, premium service and enhance the travel experience as part of the joint business.”
For cheap flights to Miami or other ideal destinations for Florida holidays, UK travellers should check online. There are flights all the year round, with some great deals to be had from Virgin Atlantic and Air India, as well as British Airways.
