Holidays to North Carolina - Lots of American History
The North Carolina holiday coast is known to be a place rich in history and thick with stories of pirates, battles, and sunken ships. Visit historic Beaufort and walk the streets where Blackbeard himself once strolled, view artefacts from his pirate ship the Queen Anne's Revenge, or have lunch at one of the great restaurants on the downtown waterfront.
Most importantly of all of course, North Carolina is the location of the first successful sustained powered flight, by the Wright brothers of course, in 1903. There’s a 60 ft granite monument perched atop Kill Devil Hill, for this is where it all happened. A visit should include touring the museum exhibits, touring the reconstructed camp buildings and first flight trail area, and a climb up Kill Devil Hill to view the memorial pylon. It’s only 90ft high, go on, you can do it. North Carolina holidays offer the opportunity to emerse yourself in the landscape and culture of the Deep South.
