The fishing village of Almyrida lies between the towns of Chania and Rethimno. Its traditional tavernas serve fresh fish. There are various shops with souvenirs, bars and cafes on the beachfront. The bay is home to Kera, Plaka, Kambia, Kokkino Horio, all beautiful small resorts within walking distance from the hotel. The area was a colony of the ancient civilization of the Pheanicians. Nearby Kokkino Horio is the village where Zorba the Greek was filmed, home to a small factory of glass-making.
