Tips

  • why book a holiday to Canary Islands

  • Perfect location for a relaxing beach holiday

  • Plenty of water sports available for adventure lovers

  • Buzzing nightlife to be found in Corralejo

Believe it or not, the reason why there are over 150 beaches on Fuerteventura is because sand blew over from the African mainland, creating a sandy paradise unique to this world. Whilst it may have Mother Nature to thanks for its main attractions, it has done more than enough to make itself even more welcoming to the thousands if not millions of people who visit, no doubt helped by the fact it enjoys over 3000 hours of sunshine per year.

Fuerteventura may roughly translate as ’strong winds’ but with year round sun toasting the island the weather is one thing you can rely on here and every month it is nothing but sun, sun, sun! If you like nothing better than relaxing on the beach before trying your hand at a few wild water sports then this is the place for you.

  • The island’s biggest resort, Corralejo, has everything you could ever want, from all inclusive resorts to first class restaurants through to safe beaches and plenty of bars. Also close by is Parque Natural de Corralejo where the sand dunes and beach front are majestic and can be an ideal spot for a picnic, while the sea is warm enough for a dip. If you want to explore the surrounding islands, day trips to neighbouring Lanzarote leave from Corralejo daily.

  • The horseshoe shaped bay of Costa Caleta is a popular resort which is favoured by families attracted by its calm clear waters.

  • For couples, Jandia is firmly establishing itself as a sunbathing paradise.
