Hotels in Rome – Wave hello to the Pope

Rome’s traffic is totally beserk and you take your life in your hands every time you cross a busy road. They should hand out suits of car-proof armour on the way in. In a startling contrast the inside of Rome’s many museums are silent and echoing, all marble hallways and velvet hangings. We got lost in one once. We nearly died from acute thirst, severe hunger pangs and a surfeit of art. Thankfully the better hotels in Rome have excellent sound proofing. The four star Hotel Cicerone is in an exclusive district, practically on the Spanish steps and close enough for rock ‘n’ roll to Vatican City. Choose hotels in Rome in this area and enjoy waving at the Pope within minutes of wandering out of the lobby.

Rome Hotels – Italians giving each other croggies…!

Rome hotels. There are some beauties. Everyone under eighty rides a scooter in Rome. Sometimes they give each other croggies. What’s a croggie? It’s a tan, of course. What’s a tan? Same as a croggie. It’s a dangerous and illicit ride dangling off the back seat of someone’s bicycle. If we did that here in the UK we’d be in hot water. Ask at any of the hotels in Rome and they’ll point you towards a decent scooter hire place. The 3 star Eurostars Domus Aurea is quiet but central, 100 meters from the Termini railway station and Rome’s Underground system. Cool for the Diocleziano Bath, the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore and the unforgettable Via Veneto.

Hotels in Rome – Climb Rome’s seven hills for astonishing views

Rome has seven famous hills; Capitoline, Palatine, Aventine, Caelium, Esquiline, Viminal and Quirinal. If you’re a keen and sturdy walker take yourself on an adventure for amazing views and a totally different perspective on this madly crowded and vivid city. The Starhotels Metropole is in the city’s Umbertine area, near the central Termini station and the Teatro dell'Opera. Choose central hotels in Rome and enjoy the happy, bustling nightlife, unwind in the hotel’s smart piano bar or take in some in-hotel live music.

Rome Holiday Deals - So Many Attractions!

Cheap Rome holiday deals allow you to explore this small city almost totally devoid of skyscrapers. This neat city informs nearly three thousand years of Western civilization.. The expression ‘all roads lead to Rome’, stemmed from the Via Antica which was built over 2,000 years ago, south of Rome.

Crammed with historic buildings, such as the Colosseum,  city breaks to Rome will stun you, no matter how seasoned a tourist you may be. For the dolce vita life it ranks amongst the most fashionable cities in the world. It says so much to so many. For those who love history and the past, they can add its cutting edge galleries, shops, restaurants, and cinema to their experience.

Package Holidays to Rome -  Plenty of Culture

For those looking for the ultra in modern chic they will be  inspired by it’s Roman and historic centre, the Citta Eterna, the Eternal City  and  the narrow winding streets. Another hotspot for Roman Catholics, tourists, is the Vatican. For wily foreign heads of state who want to impress, the Pope himself is visited at the Vatican city on the banks of the river Tiber. Visit the Vatican museums.  Throw a coin in one of famous 18 century fountains.

Flights to Rome – Ancient Roman architecture

Flights to Rome deposit you in one of the world’s most ancient and historic cities where modern sits cheek by jowl with ancient monuments built by the Romans still standing firm. It’s amazing, really, that there’s anything old left. We presume that the constant traffic vibration and chronic pollution must be having an effect but the Romans obviously knew what they were doing. Their buildings will probably still be there in another three thousand years, when everything else around them has fallen down. Flights to Rome? No problem. Rome’s one of Europe’s top business and holiday destinations, with city breaks and long weekends particularly popular. Roma Ciampino airport is convenient, on the Via Appia Nuova just nine miles or so from the city centre.

Rome Flights – Seven hills, one airport, loads of flights

Flights to Rome come in all shapes and sizes. Fly with a multitude of airlines including household names and lesser know providers; Transavia Airlines, Sterling, Carpatair, Ryanair, thomsonfly, easyJet, Air Berlin, Hapag-Lloyd Express, Wizz Air and V Bird to name a few. Rome is the biggest city in Italy as well as the capital and flights to Rome deliver all you’d expect from a major European centre and more. Wander along to the Fontana di Trevi – The Trevi Fountain to you and I – which many feel is the most beautiful of Rome’s many fantastic fountains. Not exactly minimalist in design. More lie something out of a tart’s boudoir. But a cracking piece of eye candy all the same.

Flights to RomeSee Park of the Monsters

This has nothing to do with flights to Rome. We just like the idea of this place. There’s a park in Rome called the Park of the Monsters. We’ve seen photos and it is full of scary and completely grotesque sculptures. Stuff like a massive Hercules slaying a super strong Amazon, a vast ogre-like face whose mouth is big enough to walk through and all sorts of similarly entertaining and faintly disturbing madness. What a grin. Rome’s second airport, Fiumicino Airport, is a three terminal beast twenty miles out of the city centre heading south west. Just follow the signs for Rome from the airport exit; it’ll take you about 45 minutes depending on how insanely the locals are driving that day.

Rome Attractions

The Colosseum. Imagine fifty thousand people in 80 AD watching Christians being thrown to the lions, fighting gladiators. Hollywood it wasn’t, if you were the lion’s breakfast..

Other Roman ruins are the Roman Forum, the political religious centre of the Roman governing bodies. Choose amongst the many fascinating ruined temples, and churches.

Tempio di Antonino e Faustina, the Triumphal arch Arco di Settimo Severo which was built in 203 AD. The Tempio di Saturno a top Roman Temple, was dedicated to the god of chaos and disorder, chaos manifested nowadays by the chaotic drivers in Rome.

Attractions in Rome

The Vatican City is the smallest sovereign nation in the world. It has its own postal service, currency, newspaper, radio station and army of Swiss Guards to bodyguard the Pope.

Rome is surrounded by seven hills. Climb those steps to the Piazza del Campidoglio and Musei Capitolini. Michelangelo designed the interior  of the Pizza del Campidoglio . The Pantheon temple capxures the feel of ancient Roman with it’s stunning dome.  Mingle with beautiful people around the boat shaped fountain Barcaccia.  Shop in the expensive shopping street,  the Via Condotti.  The clubbing area is Testaccio.  Opera  rings out from the Teatro dell’ Opera.

There is something for everyone in Rome.
