Hotels in Nice – Hit the Cote D’Azur and Provence

Nice is the fifth biggest city in France and visitors often use it as a base from which to head off to the Cote D’Azur and the delights of Provence. Hotels in Nice come in all shapes, sizes and flavours from basic and comfortable to splendidly luxurious. The Alpes-Maritimes coastline is stunning and easy to get to from hotels in Nice’s centre, most of which will give you advice about getting there. Hit Cannes if you feel like watching rich people. We hate to be cynical but the Emperor’s new clothes spring to mind. Or head to equally filthy rich resorts Monte-Carlo and St-Jean-Cap-Ferrat. The Albert Ist Gardens Le Meridien Nice is a top notch Nice hotel, recently renovated to give a clear, cool, contemporary feel.

Nice Hotels – Eat the world’s best ice cream until you’re sick

Nice is synonymous with truly awesome ice cream. Bet you didn’t know that. Tackle a gelato ice cream at the world’s most famous ice cream parlours. Indulge yourself at Fennocchio if you can bear to choose just one out of the 100+ flavours on offer. They also do daft flavours like tomato & Basil and ice cream flavoured with Balsamic ice-cream. Stuff that, we’ll stick with chocolate mint chip. One of the better value hotels in Nice is the Old Town Hotel, a 3 star haven set in lush green gardens in Nice centre and right near the Promenade des Anglais. Like many of the better hotels in Nice they’ll help you choose and book excursions if you ask at Reception.

Hotels in Nice – Sun, sand and celebrities

If you’re there for more than the sun and celebrities, get your sensible shoes on and take a hike to the lovely waterfall near Nice castle and take in the spectacular views over the city, the sea and beyond. Where to begin? Set off at the steps at the end of Rue des Ponchettes in Nice old town. There are some really good value hotels in Nice if you take the time to hunt around a bit. The Park Inn Nice is close by Nice airport and just a few minutes from the beach. An excellent four star base for both business travellers and holidaymakers, the Hotel Park Inn has a friendly bar, its own decent restaurant, a pool and gym.

Nice Holidays -  A Charming French City

Surrounded by beautiful hilly landscape, Nice holidays are famous for serious fun for families as well as adults in groups or alone. The crystal clear sea laps by the pretty long beachfront. Its famous Promenade Anglais runs from the city centre to the airport. It has been a  favourite resort with the English to live and cavort in for centuries.

A resort for Royalty, film stars, playwrights, and gamblers to get away from England’s climate. It has a beautiful old town, great restaurants, bars and markets which rate amongst the best along the Mediterranean. Roman ruins, and important art museums provide interesting days out, away from the bustle of the beach. It is perfect for those who like their city breaks to be a mixture of history and relaxation with an element of class.

Nice Holidays -  Lots of Culture

Nice is a good starting point to explore the rest of the Cote d’ Azure from. The more modern part of Nice is around the rue Massena. The rue de France is also pedestrianised, where you can sample many cafes, restaurants and shops. It is a resort suitable for frugal sun seekers not just the rich. It has style and a wealth of activities to suit all needs. Be they a complete rest, clubbing, sunning, museums or walking. There is something for everyone in on a Nice holiday.

Flights to Nice – Paradise for artists and musicians

Flights to Nice take you to a little French paradise. Exotic. Sophisticated. Gorgeous to look at. And beloved by shed loads of influential and famous people throughout the centuries. Toulouse Lautrec, Edwardian advertising genius and artist, was inspired by it. Artists Modigliani, Dufy, Renoir, Picasso, Marc Chagall and Henri Matisse all found it irresistible. That miserable old bugger Nietzsche liked it - as much as he liked anything. Writer Tolstoy found solace there and musicians Bizet, Berlioz and Massenet wove it’s vibe into their work. Having said all that, if you’re expecting flights to Nice to land you near to loads of lovely beaches, think again… the beaches around Nice are rocky, sans sand. Nice Côte d'Azur Airport is the place you’ll fly into, home to around 65 airlines including Areomexico, Aer Lingus, Luftnahdsa, Austrian, Blue Line and bmi baby.

Nice Flights – Rocky beaches and cloudy skies

When you see postcards of Nice, you see lovely deserted beaches and vivid blue sky. These are all taken during the winter when the sky’s clear and it’s too cold for anyone to venture onto the beach! In summer the coast is packed solid with people and the skies are usually cloudy. It gets very hot though. Nice is home to about 350,000 people, all of whom seem to be remarkably chilled. Flights to Nice are great if you’re the laid back type. The locals like nothing better than strolling along the Promenade des Anglais showing off their clothes and hair and tans with enviable amounts of je ne sais quoi. Watch out for roller skaters and joggers though… they get everywhere.

Flights to Nice – A constant party atmosphere

In Nice, they love to celebrate stuff. Any excuse and they’ve gone off on one, organising a festival, carnival or celebration. And they like everyone to join in. Flights to Nice open up year round public celebrations to tourists and holidaymakers, and you’ll find something going on at every time of year. The best known? Hop over in February and catch the Nice Carnival, echoes of New Orleans’ world famous Mardi Gras and the biggest festival on the Riviera. And there’s the fantastic Nice Jazz Festival every July. Trek over to lovely gardens of the Cimiez Monastery and take in some smooth, mellow, frantic or quite simply baffling jazz, whatever takes your fancy. Or take flights to Nice if you’re into Poetry, Rollerblading, Bastille Day, Chess and… swimming on Christmas day? Mad people.

Take the plunge. Or not. Either way, book your flights to Nice here.

Attractions in Nice

The old town in Nice is the most appealing area. Walk through the winding 18 century cobbled streets with restaurants cafes and shops.  There are steep steps at the end of the quay. But you can use a lift which goes up the cliff to the Parc du Chateau. There you can see the stunning view over the beachfront and the old city.

People flock to the Musee d’Art Moderne et d’Art Contemporain, which holds a fantastic collection of avant garde art from the 1960s to the present. This includes art from Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol’s 1965 Cambell’s Soup Can.

Musee National Message Biblique Marc Chagall contains more paintings by Chagall than anywhere in the world, inspired by biblical stories.  Note the beautiful stained glass window in the concert room. The museum commissioned him to produce works too. In the Musee Matisse you will find work which spans his career.

Finish your day on the beach, the Plages Concedes.
