Hotels in Milan – Fashion and style rule the day

Many people think that Milan is the best place on earth for style and fashion. Many of the hotels in Milan reflect this and if you want to stay somewhere unfeasibly chic, you’ll find plenty of Milan hotels to match your expectations. Milan is huge, one of Europe’s biggest cities and home to over 7 million people. And it is still growing fast. At the moment they’re busy redeveloping the marshy industrial wasteland at the city’s fringes so expect a load more hotels in Madrid cropping up over the next few years. For now, stick to the city itself. In the centre you’ve got the lovely Petit Palace Hotel de Charme, built in the 1600s and converted into an 18 room gem with deep, dark traditional décor straight out of a historical drama.

Milan Hotels – Dramatic, luxurious and… pretentious?!

Hotels in Milan don’t come smarter than this. The Straf describes itself as suave and sexy, which makes us wince a bit. They make it sound like a bad 1970s glamour movie. But no, this place is one of the best hotels in Madrid if breathtakingly elegant styling dings your bell. They even use the word ‘provocative’ in their publicity material, which we think is taking things way too far. This is an hotel, not a mistress. But then again, that’s part of the charm of Italy. Best fun of all, they offer on site sensual healing by way of Japanese massage chairs and you can smell all manner of delicious niffs in the hotel’s smart aromatherapy rooms. To finish off the picture it is only a hop, skip and jump from La Scala Opera House. And dangerously close to designer clothing heaven in Montenapoleone.

Hotels in Milan – Leonardo and designer labels

Leonardo’s ‘The Last Supper’ hangs in the Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan, more popular than ever since Dan Brown’s book The Davinci Code revealed that one of Jesus’s best mates was actually a woman. Oh, the scandal! Whatever, it is a fantastic piece of art. Hotels in Milan’s centre let you get to and from the city’s many theatres, galleries, boutiques, attractions, history and culture. Great place, full-on 24/7, packed with beautiful people in clothes that probably cost more than our granddads earned in a lifetime. Silly really. If you’re into clubbing there’s a serious dance music scene here too. Low cost hotels in Milan? We rate the 2 star Hotel Serena, close to the centre and privately managed for a nice personal touch.

Holidays to Milan -  Perfect for Shopping

BeatTheBrochure understands that  those of you afflicted with affluenza (lots of money for shopoholics) you can go mad with spending on holidays to Milan. Ludicrously expensive designer clothing boutiques abound.  It is the capital of Italian fashion, opera and nightlife.

Milan Holidays -  A Great Atmosphere

Founded in the 7th century it has built up to be a major trading centre. Milan does not have as many extraordinary sights as say, Paris. Street markets are held. There is a great nightlife, & a beautiful Gothic Duomo Cathedral.

La Scala Opera House is worth a look if you can afford a ticket.

Football fans rejoice. It is home to AC Milan. Drink in upmarket Brera for a treat.  Although a business town, it fascinates and is always a draw for tourists and holidaymakers. There are cheap chain eateries such as Spizzico where you can eat a delicious pasta. Tsuri serves great value sushi and sashimi. The Visconto and Siorza families ruled Milan from the 13th century and they left an indeliable mark on the city. You will see their influence across the entire region.  Most of sights are between the piazza and Castello Sforzesco. So book your holidays to Milan and enjoy one of the finest city breaks in Europe.

Flights to Milan – Gateway to Northern Italy

Milan has two airports, Linate and Malpensa. Flights to Milan Malpensa Airport offer travellers two terminals but if you’re on holiday you’ll probably fly into Terminal 1, home of most of the airport’s internal and international flights. A shuttle bus connects the two terminals. Milan’s second airport, Milan Linate International Airport has one terminal and is well equipped with banks, bureaux de change, plenty of good places to have a snack and a drink, plus all the usual stuff like duty free shopping, tourist and souvenir places and somewhere to buy a good book. Flights to Milan Linate International also give you fun and useful facilities like first aid, a chemist, travel agency, hairdresser and – for sartorial emergencies – a laundry!

Milan Flights – Skiing, beach holidays and city life

Milan Malpensa airport is about thirty miles North West of Milan; hit the state road SS336 then take the Busto Arsizio exit from the A8 and you can’t go far wrong. Flights to Milan drop you near the Italian Alps, just north of the city across a flat plain. It isn’t far from Milan to Venice and Florence is only a few hours away by rail. There’s great skiing to be had and it only takes an hour or so to hit snow. Flights to Milan are popular for all sorts of holidays and the sea isn’t far off either. We love the enormously quaint villages of Cinque Terre and Liguria, reachable with a little effort. And you’re close enough to France, Switzerland and Austria for rock ‘n’ roll.

Flights to Milan – Fashion centre of the world?

Many fashion types reckon that Milan is the fashion centre of the world and you’ll certainly see some sights there. Talk about beautiful people. It’s a wealthy city too, and in the centre the locals ooze money. Which designers are based here? To name a few, Gucci, Prada, Armani, Versace and Dolce & Gabbana. Wow. Fashionistas take flights to Milan to take advantage of this, snapping up smart threads at good prices while on holiday. Shop ‘til you drop.

For more art take in the Pinacoteca de Brera. Climb to the roof of the Duomo which can hold 40,000 people. It is the world’s largest Cathedral of French Gothic design commissioned in 1386 and finished nearly 600 years later. Perhaps they had difficulty with finding reliable builders?
