Hotels in London – Museums, clubs, pubs, food, shopping

Hotels in London… what can we say? If you’re not careful you can find yourself in a serious dump so it’s worth taking the time to check out London hotels carefully before booking yourself into Fawlty Towers. Or the Bates Motel. If you’re uncertain what awaits you inside that apparently smart exterior, a trusty chain hotel might be your best bet. As mid priced hotels in London go The 3 star Grosvenor Kensington Hotel’s a good deal. Right in central London’s posh South Kensington (darling) on the border of even posher Knightsbridge and close by Hyde Park, the Natural History Museum, the Science Museum, Mr and Mrs Windors’ gaff and the splendid V&A.

London Hotels – A room with a view

We always say it’s a good idea to book hotels in London on the city’s side streets rather than on the main roads. If your ideal hotel is on a busy road check that your room’s insulated against traffic noise before booking. Or stay up all night with your fingers in your ears. The 4 star Marlin Apartments is new, brash and beautifully appointed, just minutes from London Bridge. As hotels in London go, this one is hard to miss, with it’s ‘statement’ 22 storey tower. Choose from a load of cool, modern apartments and penthouses and ask for a room with a view.

Hotels in London – Funky London. Hippy London, Smart London

There are so many Londons. There’s funky London, hippy London, grey suburban London, financial London and more. Like all big capital cities some areas are dreadfully poor, others ooze cash and bling. There’s tourist London, but there are also thousands of hidden gems off the beaten path. Search and book hotels in London to suit your purpose. Whether it is a bargain basement B&B or a glitzy Park Lane wedding cake of a hotel, you’ll find what you want fast. The Strand Palace Hotel is close to Covent Garden a super place with 300 stylish rooms, good restaurants and handy meeting rooms if you’re there on business.

Holidays in London -  So Much Sightseeing

Enjoy theatre, sport, galleries, museums, tours, restaurants, beautiful parks, parades, festivals, and concerts, or wander round markets. It can be expensive. There are many free events. See Time Out magazine for listings.  Enjoy cheap family run cafes for all tastes. Hostels and cheap accommodation can be found. London is a guaranteed holiday of a life time.

London Holidays -  Getting Ready for the Olympics

London is like a series of villages which vary in terms of regeneration, like the docklands, in wealth and poverty like Woolwich..  It is an eager busy city, with improving public transport, thanks to the 2012 Olympics. Whatever your tastes, or romantic inclinations, London is the business. Each area has attracted different generations and nationalities for reasons of culture, economy, residential, business or entertainment. In between people live in long streets of Victorian terracing, or blocks of high rise social housing built in the 1960s, or huge manor houses in the luxurious West End. There are Irish Portugese, Bangladeshi areas and many more.

BeatTheBrochure says you will leave London empowered.

Flights to London – Bet you didn’t know that!

What can we say about London? We dislike stating the obvious so we’re going in search of weird and wonderful facts about the UK’s capital. Flights to London land you in the home of the famous Battersea Dogs’ Home, which cares for 15,000 stray doggies every year.

Alexandra Palace was the venue of the great 1851 Exhibition, one of the biggest show-off fests known to man and a showcase for the skills, ingenuity and intelligence of the entire British Empire. A million square metres of glass visited by six million keen Victorians. The UK’s first ever supermarket flung open it’s doors in Earls Court back in 1951. And Thomas Arne composed the song Rule Britannia while drunk (we imagine) in a riverside pub in Hammersmith. Bet you didn’t now that. Find out more… book yourself flights to London and explore the ‘big smelly’.

London Flights – Harrods don’t sell coke any more…

We’re on a roll now. Buy yourself a brace of flights to London and gaze into the windows of Harrods, one of the world’s most famous department stores. You’d never guess that they used to sell pure cocaine there until it was made illegal in 1902. How times have changed. You can’t even smoke a fag in public these days for fear of being arrested and hanged.

Have a poke around Soho if you fancy seeing what London’s seedy side is all about. Soho used to be very different, part of Henry 8th’s prestigious hunting grounds. Like trees? Alexander Pope planted the country’s first ever willow tree at home in Twickenham, and every willow in the UK is related to it.

Flights to London – Eccentricity, madness and art

How can anyone resist visiting a city this full of madness, eccentricity and variety? Take flights to London where 1960s politicians probably still wander, lost, around Parliament’s two miles of corridors muttering to themselves. The city where Jack the Ripper, left handed maniac and killer, takes his place alongside Sherlock Holmes and King George VI, the only Royal to compete at Wimbledon. How to get there? Book flights to London Gatwick, London Heathrow, London Luton or London Stansted airports, depending on where in the city you want to stay.

If London fun, culture and madness is what you’re after, book your flights to London here.
