Hotels in Atlanta – Jewel of Georgia

Get a warm welcome in Atanta, Georgia. Some hotels in Atlanta are straight out of Gone with the Wind, others are as modern as a modern thing from a very modern place. If you’re into jazz, you’ll discover some great venues playing everything from traditional jazz to modern conceptual stuff that ties your brain up in knots like knitting. In the heart of downtown, the Holiday Inn Atlanta is a comfortable haven located adjacent to Centennial Olympic Park, steps from the Georgia World Congress Centre, CNN Centre, World of Coke (!), and the newly opened Georgia Aquarium. Amenities? Free lobby Wi-Fi, outdoor pool and restaurant.

Atlanta Hotels – Where the wildlife has teeth

The wildlife here can be scary and sometimes it has enormous teeth. Beware the alligators if you’re wary of scaly things, or go and make friends with them at an alligator ranch. Throughout the south you’ll get a warm welcome and the traditional dishes down there involve weird and wonderful stuff like catfish, crayfish and gumbo. Take the plunge… it’s delicious. There are loads of good 3 star hotels in Atlanta including the Comfort Inn and Suites at Camp Creek. If you need to take your beloved pet on holiday, they’ll let it stay here. Just two miles from the airport and offering free transport to and from your flights, this Atlanta hotel is cheap, cheerful and convenient.

Hotels in Atlanta – Plenty of cheap hotels

There’s loads to do here. Stay in hotels in Atlanta’s centre for easy access to stuff like the Georgia Aquarium, CNN Studios, Georgia World Congress Centre, the Dome and the famous Philips Arena. You can do all this on a shoestring if you stay in low cost accommodation. Want cheap hotels in Atlanta? Atlanta Holidays -  Plenty of Great Attractions

The most likely starting point for your Deep South holidays, Atlanta is a place that deserves some time before you head off to pastures new. Don’t forget to see the biggest fish in the world at Georgia Aquarium on your Atlanta Holidays. The aquarium itself is also the biggest in the world. Walk through the glass tunnel inside the massive tank that contains 100,000 animals.

There’s the CNN Studio tour to take, so you can see where the news that’s received by over one billion people round the world hails from.

Remember, we haven’t been able to see a giant panda in the UK for a while, but Atlanta zoo has two! Don’t be content to see them over the Atlanta Zoo PandaCam, go on an Atlanta holidays and get so close you can smell them, which doesn’t have to be very close at all really.

Flights to Atlanta – Big, shiny, sparkly and rich

Atlanta was originally called Marthasville. We’re glad it changed its name to something less homespun because Atlanta is a wonderful, big, shiny name that fits this wonderful, big, shiny city. Flights to Atlanta, Georgia, land you in the city where Martin Luther King kicked off the Civil Rights movement. While Atlanta’s climate is generally mild it can get nasty and a bit grim in the winter, occasionally falling below zero. The best time to visit is during spring, summer and autumn. Flights to Atlanta land you at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, as sparkly and immaculate as the city itself and only ten 10 miles from the city. They’re planning a new international terminal for 2011 so watch this space.

Atlanta Flights – Posh nosh downtown

Flights to Atlanta deliver you smack bang in the middle of the world’s busiest airport. So if you’re fazed by crowds and massive areas of echoing floor and about four billion departure gates, steel yourself. Atlanta is a popular place to live and the city swells with migrating Floridans, Texans, Alabamans, Californians and New Yorkers every year. And boy, do they love their food. Foodies take flights to Atlanta because Atlantan locals spend more money dining out than anyone in the USA. Ergo, there are some truly fantastic places to eat out. Atlanta city feels wealthy. And it is. Their capitol building – a bit like a town hall, but with balls – is generously covered with forty three ounces of twenty three carat gold leaf.

Flights to Atlanta – Meet and greet the State Fish

Atlanta airport, like many of the US’s biggest, is hell bent on expansion so their offering is due to get bigger. Blimey. It’s about the size of Yorkshire as it is. Anyway, they’re spending a cool six billion dollars – about three and a half billion pounds in real money – to make your flights to Atlanta an unforgettable experience. But you’re not there to visit the airport… almost 17 million people visit Atlanta city itself each year. They probably all come to pay respects to the State Fish, the Largemouth Bass. Does Sussex have a ‘county fish’? No. I nominate the blenny. Just because it has a silly name.

Posh nosh and a liberal attitude. Book your flights to Atlanta here.

CNN Studio – Atlanta Attractions

This is the 24 hour news channel we’ve all come to know and, errr… watch occasionally. Have a look in the actual news room for an understanding of how modern news media works. It’s the world's largest newsgathering organization, and a uniquely Atlanta experience. During a 40 minute guided tour you’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at the high-tech world of wall-to-wall news in action. While it is possible to go on an escorted BBC tour in London, it’s nothing like as interactive as this CNN tour, you certainly won’t be able to be filmed reading the day’s news like you can be here. Mind you, there’s no Blue Peter garden in Atlanta.

Georgia Aquarium – Attractions tickets Atlanta

The World’s Largest Aquarium – or so it says – but with 8 million gallons and more than 100,000 fish and things that are like fish, who are we to argue? You’re not going to get whale sharks and beluga whales coming to see you. You have to make the effort to visit them, and Atlanta, Georgia is the place to do

The Georgia Aquarium has five separate galleries arranged around a central atrium where a diverse population includes all the shapes and sizes of aquatic life you could imagine and plenty more you couldn’t. Certainly worth a visit whilst on your holiday in Atlanta, whatever age you or the group you’re travelling with is.

Centennial Olympic Park – Attractions in Atlanta

You can’t miss it if you’re in Atlanta. Unless you stay in your hotel room all the time you’re there of course. It’s right in the middle of town, and yes – you can play in The Fountain of Rings, the world's largest interactive fountain, although it’s mainly children that partake as a rule

This was a run down part of town a few years ago (well, 20 years ago to be more accurate) but NOW look at it, all thanks to that successful Olympic bid. Go, watch, learn, and bring back some lessons in time for 2012 and the ‘London Olympics’.

Atlanta Zoo – Atlanta Attractions

It’s not the biggest zoo in the world (unlike the aquarium, and several other things in Atlanta that ARE the biggest things in the world) it’s almost the same size as London zoo – there’s just an acre in it. But it has something London zoo no longer has. Pandas. Okay, you’re not going to cancel a few days in Disneyland, but if you’ve an afternoon to kill before your flight, head to the zoo

Underground Atlanta – Attractions in Atlanta

Don’t be scared if anyone asks if you know about underground Atlanta, they aren’t trying to lead you astray, merely let you know where most of the shopping and entertainment in town is to be found. It’s not really underground, but under the viaducts and railway tracks. Nothing to be scared of at all.

Thinking of a flydrive in Atlanta? You can easily fly direct to Atlanta it little over 9 hours. No messing. Definitely a good place to start your USA flydrive holiday!
