Hotels in Toronto – Beaches, art, science, culture…
There’s so much to do in and around Toronto and all the hotels in Toronto are convenient for one attraction or another. The Beaches area great for meandering around on foot checking out the board walk action along the fringes of gorgeous Lake Ontario. Or hire a bicycle. The commercial area has loads of character, full of one-off shops, cafes and restaurants.
Like quite a few hotels in Toronto (it has to be said) the Grange Hotel in Chinatown is a bit of a minger – a boxy, solid chunk of modern brown. But it’s lovely inside and only a short distance from all the city’s major attractions: City Hall, Eaton and Rogers Centres, the brilliant Art Gallery of Ontario… I could go on. And on.
Toronto Hotels – A bit like the North Laine in Brighton
Explore hotels in Toronto here and, if you’re into chilled, eclectic places, bag yourself one near Kensington Market. Vivid fruit and veg stalls, excellent second hand shops (they call them ‘thrift stores’ here), pubs and flocks of weird and wonderful people everywhere. A bit like home. Actually, it reminds us very much of Brighton’s North Laine. Once a month they block off the streets and have a party; expect drummers, music, dance and all sorts of creative goings on.
The 2 star Clarion Hotel is in downtown Toronto, close enough to all the fun but a welcome retreat at the end of a heavy day’s fun. This one belongs to North America’s biggest hotel franchise so, as hotels in Toronto go, you can guarantee it’ll be clean, comfy and friendly. The Clarion was writer Ernest Hemingway’s favourite hotel in the 1920s and it has won an award for being the best value hotel in Toronto three years in a row.
Hotels in Toronto – Get naked in public. No, really!
Hotels in Toronto open up the wilds for you to explore, including Toronto Islands. There are countless lovely walking trails, picnic areas and beaches on Toronto’s pretty islands. Discover the creepy history of the Gibraltar Point Lighthouse or throw caution to the wind and take yourself off to the ‘clothing optional’ beach (that’s a nudist beach to you and me) at Hanlan’s Point.
