LA. has no town centre as such. It is made up of different districts according to boom times at various stages of its history. Downtown has the most comprehensive choice of art, parks museums and places to stay, thanks to its financial development. Central Hollywood is surprisingly low key. Los Angeles’ real name is ‘El Pueblo de Nuestra Senora la Reina de Los Angeles de Porciuncula’. What a mouthful. The first marauding Spanish arrived back in 1542 and settlers joined them some time later in 1769. The 1800s gold rush swelled the city with hungry, greedy prospectors and Los Angeles finally became a city in 1876. In the Financial District see the Museum of Contemporary Art ;works by Franz Kline, Rothko, and extraordinary Southern Californian artists.

The Natural History Museum of LA County is in the Exposition Park area. In Central Hollywood step on The Walk of Fame.  Giggle at the Celebrity Lingerie Hall of Fame.  Marvel at the Egypxian Theatre restored to its former glory. The Museum Mile is off Wilshire Boulevard. 

Attractions Los Angeles

LA. County Museum has the best collection of Mexican masks amongst other German and Japanese artifacts. In Beverly Hills sits Greystone Park Mansion which is sometimes open.  Its luxuriant sixteen acre park has wide views of LA.  Disneyland is in Orange County. Enjoy the rides of a lifetime!

Filmmaking takes place in Burbank. Studio Tours operate. The Magic Mountain rides in San Fernando Valley thrill to the core. Seek out nightlife, bars, and coffee houses. LA. has plenty of Live Music. Newcomers play clubs on Sunset Strip.
