Hotels in Las Vegas – In the middle of the desert

Hotels in Las Vegas need no explanation. If you’ve seen CSI you’ll be familiar with the super-casino hotels that put up big winners in obscene luxury for free. This is as crazy as Disneyland but it’s a grown up place, gambling focused with a sideline in drive through weddings. Get married by Elvis and dress as Elvis yourself if you like. Nobody will bat an eyelid. The hotels in Las Vegas are actually some of the city’s biggest attractions. How odd is that? The whole place is stuffed with hotels; massive resort hotels the size of Wales line the neon lit Strip and you won’t be able to move for restaurants, bars, cafes, theatres, clubs, shopping and – of course- casinos.

Las Vegas Hotels – Gamble your life away or marry Elvis

Las Vegas has a definite seedy side once you wander off the glitzy boulevards and sparkling casino lined avenues. If you fancy an authentic American road trip style motel, straight out of a ‘50s film, there are plenty to choose from. Some come with their very own grubby, vest clad desk clerk complete with squint. Just as you’d expect. One night in there and you’ll probably be begging for entry into one of the Strip’s super-tacky mega hotels. The MGM Grand Hotel and Casino is typical of big gambling-focused hotels in Las Vegas, a city sized hotel complex complete with power showers, massive beds, live shows and nightlife. Right on The Strip.

Hotels in Las Vegas – Head for The Strip

Las Vegas is in the middle of a very hot, very dry desert so bear in mind that if you’re slumming it for fun you might cook yourself alive. The desert can be freezing cold at night so hotels in Las Vegas with good air conditioning and heating are a must. They obviously let some proper nutters design buildings out there. You’ll probably recognise the Luxor, that insane 30 storey pyramid shaped thing. Of all the hotels in Las Vegas, one of the most over the top. Would you believe it, the Luxor even has its own ‘Sky Beam’, the world’s strongest laser that can be seen from space. What’s the point? We’re baffled. Ideas on a postcard please.

Las Vegas Holidays -  The Greatest Show on Earth

Las Vegas holidays take you to the heat of the Nevada Desert. It has to be the least organically grown city in the world (apart from Dubai of course). A manufactured city built soley on people’s optimism that they can win thousands gambling. It makes sense that the biggest capitalist country in the world builds a city dedicated to gambling. After all stock exchanges are nothing more than gamblers’ dens with workers’money.

Las Vegas holidays
are wonderful USA City break. The hotels are truly spectacular. With picture postcard settings of Switzerland, Monte Carlo and Venice and other capital cities.  These hotels, and casinos look like film sets from different parts of the world. They are childish but sophisticated and its great fun to marvel at as you walk aroound the city.

Cheap Holidays to Las Vegas -  Fancy a Gamble?

Thirty seven million tourists use the casinos each year. There is an endless search for the new. Nothing stays the same. It is often rebuilt to change the settings. Monte Carlo one year,  then maybe Prague the next? Well they haven’t built a Margate hotel yet anyway.

A unique experience indeed even by beatthebrochure standards. Las Vegas holidays offer a living, breathing, amusement arcade, so enjoy your time here ... just don't lost too much money.

Flights to Las Vegas – Gamble and get married all at once

Las Vegas translates to ‘The Meadows’ but it isn’t particularly meadow. Far from it. We suppose whoever named it was either feeling nostalgic or indulging in some serious wishful thinking. Hot, dry and dusty during the day. Cold, dry and dusty at night. Most people take flights to Las Vegas for the casinos or to get married. There’s not much else to do there in all honesty, and as soon as you leave the glitzy bits behind the city reveals itself as horribly tatty and poverty stricken. Flights to Las Vegas land you at McCarran International Airport, a two terminal monster with a third on the way due 2011.

Las Vegas Flights – Desert landscapes and city lights

Flights to Las Vegas bring Elvis to mind. The poor man did a ridiculous 837 shows in a row at the Las Vegas Hilton Casino. He must have been so fed up and bored, trundling out the same old stuff night after night. No wonder he resorted to cheeseburgers. Perhaps if he’d taken himself off to the nearby Nevada Mountains for some exercise he’d still be here. Adventurous types choose flights to Las Vegas because of the hiking and climbing, cumulating in the 13,000 foot high Boundary Peak. Stunning views over a stunningly bleak landscape. Other people just head for the slot machines. Las Vegas has its eccentricities and US state and county law is often hilariously silly. If you buy a drink for more than three people in Nyala you’ll be in trouble. Kiss in public in Eureka and you risk a night in jail.

Flights to Las Vegas – A 27 million dollar jackpot

The world's biggest jackpot was won in Las Vegas where, in 1998, a local woman netted a fantastic 27 million dollars in one go. Wow. No wonder flights to Las Vegas are popular. The airport is only a mile from Las Vegas’s famous Strip, which looks OK at night but fairly grubby and poor by day. Money doesn’t necessarily mean taste and the casinos are unbelievably tacky. Nevada is the biggest producer of gold in the world next to South Africa and the extraordinarily tarty Golden Nugget Hotel is home to the world's biggest ever gold nugget, all sixty pounds of it. Las Vegas? Great fun as long as you can forget the aesthetics.

Like Blackpool but tackier, bigger and hotter. Book your flights to Las Vegas here.
