Kalkan Hotels - A Wonderful Little Resort

Kalkan is a small seaside resort thats very popular with families. Its a very quiet little town, and a great place to relax. It has some excellent beaches and crystal clear water. The resort is set amongst some beautiful Lycian coastline. Its not really a place for 5 star luxury hotels, but it has plenty of very good well priced hotels. Most have a range of board basis options to choose from, and the hotel staff are usually very friendly.

Hotels in Kalkan - Great Value for Money

Turkey does not use the Euro, so everything seems less expensive there. Its possible to find great bargains at the local markets, and the best restaurants are very affordable. The same goes for hotels, as it doesn't cost much to get high standard accommodation. Kalkan is a great place to go all inclusive, and the seafood is highly recommended. Kalkan hotels are great for low cost family holidays.

Kalkan Holidays - Great for Families

Fancy a relaxing and quiet time on your Turkey holidays? Kalkan is a lovely, small town that offers some genuine peace and quiet of an order you won’t find in the main resort areas. If activity is your thing there’s canoeing, diving, or boat trips. You can even go away for a night or two on a local boat on a sort of ‘mini cruise’. Yes, it’s a Gulet we’re talking about, you know we’re keen on them at Beat the brochure, and rightly so. The Gulet crews are traditionally great cooks. You’ll sit looking dreamily into the crystal clear waters while the crew work away. There’s nothing for you to worry about, just an array of tropical fish teaming round the boat to be mesmerised by. As we said earlier, don’t get too attached to them though, you’re being served most of them for lunch in 10 minutes. Cheap package holidays to Kalkan are available throughout the year.

Cheap Holidays to Kalkan - Amazing Coastline

The town is based around the harbour, but there’s a bazaar area too where there are restaurants and carpet shops, as well as places to buy day to day essentials. This resort has some of Turkey's best beaches. Kalkan is a beautiful Lycian Coast location that gives you the opportunity to discover scenic cliffs covered in pine forests, the turquoise sea. The Lycians settled here long ago. Some remains are still visible.

Kalkan Holidays - Plenty of Attractions

Kalkan surrounds its ancient harbour and is positioned at the foot of the massive Taurus Mountain range. Narrow streets lead through the historic town to the harbour, and are lined with whitewashed villas and local shops. There are Ottoman timber balconies still standing, but now covered with colourful bougainvillea that’s grown all the way down to the streets below. Traditional life is still going on here for many of the locals, who continue to spend summer in the mountains and winter on the coast. St Nicholas – Father Christmas to you and I, was born in Patara, no really, he was. Patara is next to Kalkan and St Nicholas was a Bishop up the road as well. How he made it to the North Pole we don’t know. Kalkan holidays offer something for everyone.

Kalkan Flights - Plenty of Choice

Many different airlines fly to Turkey from the UK. These include budget airlines such as Easyjet, and more tradititional airlines such as British Airways. Several Turkish airlines also fly this route. We recommend booking early to find the best prices. The flights take around 4 hours, and Turkish time is 2 hours ahead of the UK. There are several international airports in Turkey, and its usually a short transfer to popular resorts.

Kalkan is about 110km away from Dalaman International Airport. This means a short drive when you arrive. We can arrange cheap return coach transfers to your hotel, or you can take your own private taxi when you get there. We can also arrange low cost car hire.

Town Centre Shopping - Kalkan Attractions

The town centre of Kalkan is quiet in the day as beach-going and watersports rule the day. There’s a Thursday Market every week where you can see local life in action.

Other shopping in Kalkan offers carpets, boxes of Turkish Delight, gold or silver jewellery, which is sold by weight in Turkey. Antiques from all over Turkey are available too.

Dalman airport is about an hour and 45 minutes in a car from Kalkan.
