Dolums are usually hanging around suspiciously on the main roads out of town, but don’t be scared, all you do is look for one displaying where you want to go, sit on it, and wait for it to get busy enough for the driver to decide it time to go! Bodrum is busy and vibrant and noisy. With the addition of gorgeous dramatic scenery, beautiful clean sandy beaches and warm seas. Take flights to Bodrum if you’re after more than a purist beach holiday. If, after three days lying flat, you’re bored silly you can go in search of a multitude of interesting archaeological sites and treasures, hit one of the resort’s excellent restaurants or do some great quality walking in and around the place. Flights to Bodrum drop you at Bodrum airport, 25 miles or so from Bodrum town centre. It’s new-ish, smart, efficient and packed with good facilities. They’ve widened the roads too so if your flights to Bodrum include car hire it’ll only take you half an hour to drive to the resort.

Bodrum Flights – Lovely quieter places nearby

Flights to Bodrum land you in a resort that’s sometimes a bit too much like a home from home. Unless ‘traditional’ English pubs, ‘authentic’ Irish pubs and chips are your holiday favourites you’ll probably find Bodrum a bit tedious. But there are all sorts of quieter villages and resorts to stay in out of the way, all linked by a really good local bus service. Avoid Bodrum’s high street at night unless you’re in heavy drinking mode. Instead, take a leisurely wander down the coast a bit and take advantage of one of the areas many delightful taverns, romantic restaurants and beach side retreats.

Flights to Bodrum – Take the hydrofoil to Kos

Milas Bodrum airport sits between Bodrum and Milas so it’s convenient for both. If you’re booking a package holiday then your transfers will be taken care of. If not, there’s loads of excellent public transport and friendly taxis outside – remember to agree your fare up front. If you’ve got time to spare, flights to Bodrum allow you to take in the delights of the Greek island of Kos, a short journey away over the warm sea by hydrofoil. Kos is lovely, not unlike Bodrum with a good mix of archaeology, history, quaint harbours, white villages and fantastic beaches.

Bodrum Attractions - Castle of St Peter

Built in the early 15th century you can’t miss this castle if you’re in Bodrum. It’s an impressive example of medieval architecture. The castle is in excellent condition, it now houses a fascinating museum with exhibits that include underwater archaeology.

Attractions Bodrum - Mausoleum of Halicarnassus

An enormous white marble tomb was built to hold the remains of Mausolus, a king from the Persian Empire, and his Mrs. Greek architects designed the 135 foot tall tomb, and famous Grecian sculpxors added an ornamental frieze outside. Word spread though the ancient world and the word ‘mausoleum’ came to represent any equally ostentatious tomb. It’s not standing now thanks to an earthquake in the 15 century, but it’s worth a trip to see the remains of this, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world.

It’s 12 hours on a bus from Istanbul, so you won’t want to be getting the bus. You can book your flight from the UK to include a transfer from Istanbul to Bodrum, but flights from Istanbul get busy in the summer so book early.
