Hippocrates Platanos – Kos Holidays – Greece
Rumoured to be both the oldest tree in Europe and the tree under which Hippocrates, the world’s first doctor taught. It’s the site of the world’s first medical students too then. We can feel a ‘Green Wing’ style comedy drama coming on. Only this time set in ancient Greece. Under a tree.
Castle of the Knights of St John - Kos Holidays
Also called The Neratzia Castle, it’s not expensive to enter and there are lovely views as far as Bodrum, which is in Turkey. It was built by the Knights of the order of St John. Yes, the same St John Ambulance lot that crop up at football matches, fetes, and supermarket openings up and down the country looking after us all on a voluntary basis. The roots of St John Ambulance go back 900 years.
