The Almyrida Beach Hotel lies in the picturesque village of Almyrida, on a natural cove opposite the isle of Karga. Imposing hills with luscious olive groves reach the areas sun-kissed beaches. The mountain range of Lefka Ori in the south provides the area with a mild, cool climate throughout the year.

A unique combination of hotel and apartment facilities, the Almyrida Beach offers excellent family-run service, traditional design and attention to detail. Chania Airport is 27 km away and Heraklion Airport 187km away, while the port of Souda is 19 km away with daily ships to and from the port of Athens. Regular bus service connects daily the hotel to the town of Chania and all the surrounding villages.

Local Information

The fishing village of Almyrida lies between the towns of Chania and Rethimno. Its traditional tavernas serve fresh fish. There are various shops with souvenirs, bars and cafes on the beachfront. The bay is home to Kera, Plaka, Kambia, Kokkino Horio, all beautiful small resorts within walking distance from the hotel. The area was a colony of the ancient civilization of the Pheanicians. In Almyrida archeologists discovered temples with frescoes of the Royal Church of Rhythm of the 5th century BC. The small island of Karga is ideal for sailing and fishing. Nearby Kokkino Horio is the village where Zorba the Greek was filmed, home to a small factory of glass-making. Kambia is home to old traditional well-preserved houses with beautifully landscaped gardens and to the small chapel of Aghios Nikitas.
