Florida Hotels – Shop ‘til you drop on International Drive#

Florida’s famous International Drive is shopper’s heaven, great fun for bargain hunting. There’s great shopping practically everywhere in Florida, if acquiring endless amounts of stuff dings your bell. Try this Florida hotel on for size. Less than a mile from Key West Airport, the Sheraton Key West is just over the road from Smather's Beach. Like most hotels in Florida, they’ll ply you with free coffee every time you stand still for more than a microsecond. Hotels in Florida – Eat massive amounts for a couple of quid

Food wise, portions in Florida are completely out of control. Super-sized? More like planet-sized. One of the great things about Florida is that a thousand of you can eat ‘til you drop for less than the cost of a CD. Think loaves and fishes gone mad. Hotels in Florida tempt you into plumpness too. Florida Holidays -  More Than Just Disney!

What’s got 95 theme parks and a Bloomingdales? Orlando holidays are one of the most popular holidays in the world, and rightly so. Once you’re in Orlando it will take you a full two months to explore all the amusement parks alone! However, Orlando and the rest of Florida has so much more to offer than just theme parks, so if Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, or Sea World aren't for you, try the Mall at Millenia, where there’s Bloomingdales, along with Neiman Marcus, and Macy's.

When everyone in your party has had enough of the theme parks, there are museums, parks, and gardens to enjoy. Kissimmee, Lake Buena Vista, and International Drive are all much-loved Orlando resorts, or you can of course stay right in the thick of it at the Walt Disney World, or the Universal Orlando Resort – that’s five great areas to choose from in Orlando alone!

Cheap Florida Holidays –  Something For Everyone

Miami holidays are the third most popular holiday destinations in the entire US (after LA and New York). It’s a cosmopolitan metropolis too, with plenty of attractions, nightlife, and shopping. There are miles of shoreline, museums, parks, and great restaurants. Whether you're in Miami to board a cruise at the world's most active passenger port, to explore the Art Deco district, the clubs, or the bars of Miami Beach, there’s loads to do here and it seems a world away from Orlando, but it’s not you know, it’s only an hour’s flight!

Florida Gulf Coast holidays offer the visitor the amazing Everglades National Park, the Big Cypress Swamp, and numerous other wetland reserves and wildlife refuges. Then there are the miles of beautiful beaches, washed by the warm Gulf waters and a lovely array of seashells to stroll along collecting.

Florida Keys holidays is a beautiful destination for a bit of island-hopping. Florida Keys are the collective name for the row of tiny islands that make up the southern most tip of the USA. You might be familiar with Key Largo, or Key West, but there are over 100 islands making up the Keys, all joined together by an amazing 126 miles of road and 42 huge bridges.

The Florida Gold Coast is so named because of the shipwrecks off its coastline and the gold that, legend has it, was salvaged from them. The Gold Coast has over 60 miles of Atlantic shoreline running from Jupiter in Palm Beach County to Fort Lauderdale. The larger cities along the coast are: West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, and ‘Hollywood’ (no not the Hollywood). There’s constantly warm and sunny weather here (apart from the odd hurricane) there are hundreds of swanky shopping centres, or ‘malls’ as our mates overseas cheekily call them.

The Gold Coast is sometimes referred to as the Space Coast because the Kennedy Space Center is here. You can tour launch pads, experience the Apollo moon launch in an authentic simulation, and - if you're lucky - even see a real satellite hop off into space. There are some great beaches too. Florida holidays are a popular choice for many, it really does offer something for everyone.

Flights to Florida – ‘Discovered’ in 1513

A chap called Juan Ponce de Leon arrived in the area in 1513 and called it Florida after the Feast of Flowers that was taking place back home. These days flights to Florida land you in a holiday state that offers fantastic natural resources as well as sophisticated contemporary cities and – of course – theme parks. Countless theme parks. The state’s international airports include Daytona Beach Florida International, Fort Lauderdale Airport, Hollywood International Airport, Southwest Florida International Airport, Jacksonville International Airport, Key West International Airport, Melbourne International Airport, Miami International Airport and Sanford International Airport. Whichever destination you choose, it’ll be hot. The whole of Florida’s hot and Key West has the highest average temperature in the entire US.

Florida Flights – Indians, heroines and history

Flights to Florida don’t just give you access to theme parks, swamps and grown ups dressed as giant mice. While Juan Ponce (unfortunate name) claimed Florida as his own, it was originally home to tribes who settled there 7000 years ago. Compared to much of the US Florida is a place packed with history. The state’s oldest city, St. Augustine, dates from 1565 so rivals many European cities in age. Choose flights to Florida and you’ll follow in the footsteps of aviatrix Amelia Earhart who took off from Miami back in 1937 for a record breaking solo flight around the world… and was never seen again. All Florida’s airports are modern and sparkly, jam packed with state of the art airport technology to smooth the flow. Earhart would be mighty impressed.

Flights to Florida – Where snow is as rare as hens’ teeth

Busy looking for interesting facts about Florida, we discover that snow fell in Dade County on January 20, 1977. So what, you might ask. We can only assume that snow is so incredibly rare in Dade County that they’ve never forgotten it. So if you’re thinking about flights to Florida to escape cold weather in any shape or form, you won’t go far wrong. The thing we like best of all about the whole of Florida is a grave in Key West that has been inscribed with the epitaph ‘I told you I was sick.’ US humour doesn’t always come this delightfully dry. We almost felt at home.

Walt Disney World - Florida Attractions

The Walt Disney World Resort covers over 47 square miles, which means it’s really big. Huge. Don’t expect to see everything in a day or two here, allow a full seven days to make the most of it. There are really four theme parks to explore: Magic Kingdom Park, Epcot, Disney-MGM Studios. There are also two water parks, Blizzard Beach, and Typhoon Lagoon.

Universal Studios Orlando - Attractions Tickets Florida

There are two amazing theme parks here, Universal Studios and Universal's Islands of Adventure. There’s also Wet ‘n Wild, and the dining and entertainment complex CityWalk. Several great hotels as well, all within easy walking distance, and you have everything you need to make a great Orlando holiday right here.

Discovery Cove - Attractions in Florida

Florida offers many attractions without any roller coasters and here’s a remarkable one. You can search all day for a ride of any sort here, but you won't find one. Instead here you can swim with dolphins, and explore rocky coves teaming with tropical fish, with nothing but your swimming trunks and a snorkel between you and the wildlife. Be careful though, ‘never trust a dolphin’.

Bass Museum of Art - Florida Attractions

This Art Deco building in Miami houses a collection of exhibits including paintings, sculpture, and textiles. The permanent collection includes European paintings from the 15th to early 20th centuries from Renaissance, Medieval and baroque eras. Rubens, Rembrandt and Toulouse-Lautrec all have work in here.

Miami Beach - Florida Attractions

Part of the bigger Miami Beach, it's America's answer to the French Riviera, with some Art deco thrown in for good measure. Ricky Martin frequents the bars, restaurants, hotels and night clubs, but don’t let that put you off. Aspiring models come here to be discovered, and sun themselves on the beautiful white beach.

Miami Seaquarium - Attractions in Florida

Miami Seaquarium has exciting shows, great exhibits and enjoyable, educational presentations in a beautifully landscaped 35 acre park overlooking Biscayne Bay. You'll see whales, sea lions, turtles, sharks, manatees, birds, alligators and more.

Busch Gardens - Florida Attractions

Busch Gardens is the ultimate family adventure park offering an array of fascinating attractions based on exotic encounters with the African continent. There are over 2,700 animals here, and live shows, restaurants, and great rides, such as the amazing 4D adventure ride ‘Pirates’.

Sanibel and Captiva - Attractions in Florida

Those who enjoy getting away from it all will love the Florida Gulf coast island of Sanibel and its smaller sister Captiva, where the main event of the day is the magnificent sunset and traffic stops to let a tortoise to cross the road, which probably doesn’t happen every day, just quite often. Come here not for the bright lights, but to enjoy the white sandy beaches, the warm Gulf waters, the huge variety of wildlife, and the fabulous fresh seafood.

Key West Aquarium - Attractions Tickets Florida

At the Key West Aquarium you can discover the undersea world of the Florida Keys. Daily shark and turtle feedings and a ‘touch tank’ gives visitors a hands-on experience with sea life. Remember to wash your hands.

Everglades Alligator Farm - Florida Attractions

Look! A real working alligator farm. Now this is something you just can’t miss, it’s not every day you get to see an alligator drive a tractor, milk a cow, or apply for an EU agricultural subsidy. Oh okay, it’s not that type of alligator farm. Apparently it’s to help make sure alligators don’t become extinct. Don’t they know that alligators are great big nasty pieces of work that occasionally attack and kill people?

Blimey, if we lived in Florida, we’d be championing a ‘Make the alligator extinct’ campaign, and wouldn’t be resting until they were all gone. Every last one. Then we’d take on the snakes, which we’re not overly fond of either. However, should you want to go and have a word with an alligator, this is the place. There are regular shows, and children will get a chance to hold a baby alligator. Rather them than us.

Palm Beach - Attractions in Florida

A ship laden with Cuban coconuts was wrecked on the offshore barrier island (its 14 miles long and half a mile wide so they couldn’t miss it really) off Palm Beach. 100 years later some of he world's wealthiest people moved in. America's aristocracy, the Kennedys, Rockefellers, Trumps and other society names filling the fabulous mansions here.

You should allow about nine and a half hours to fly direct to Orlando or Miami, but be prepared to have (depending on what time of year you visit) only lost two hours when you arrive, which is clever.
There might well be a few events throughout the year in Florida that you want to avoid. However, these particular events aren’t so easy to predict months ahead of time. For your information, a hurricane is a tropical cyclone with winds in excess of 74 mph. The season for these in Florida tends to be between June and November. You don’t have to worry about this too much, as Florida is a big place. Advanced warning systems are in place so it’s unlikely you’ll be caught unaware.

Hurricanes aside, lots of people from all over the US come to Florida for a holiday or for a convention all the year round. It’s a big place and there’s more than enough room for everyone.
