Hotels in Miami – Home of Miami Vice and ‘H’

CSI fans will recognise much of Miami. As will Miami Vice fans… but it must have been less colourful there in those days. Expect to be disappointed if you’re expecting CSI-style purple skies and acid green foliage. It is pretty exotic, though! Hotels in Miami cater for every budget. South Beach is famous as being the place to be if you’re anywhere near cool. And Miami Beach is uber-trendy. The Days Inn at Westland Mall is just seven miles from the Airport and eight miles from downtown Miami’s beaches. Hotels in Miami don’t come more convenient for the Dolphin Stadium and the race track.

Miami Hotels – Millions of acres of swamp!

Miami hotels give you access to the Everglades’ million and a half acres of swamps. We’re not sure how many football fields big that is (the classic British way to measure big stuff) but it must be a fair few. From prairie to jungle, the Everglades National Park is beautiful, exciting and absolutely deadly. Home to crocodiles, panthers and the West Indian Manatee. Thankfully the hotels in Miami only welcome human guests. The Sleep Inn at Miami International Airport overlooks an 18 hole golf course but this is the US – it’s a very pretty golf course! They offer an airport shuttle service, free coffee bar, tennis courts, basketball, gym, a lovely pool and a picnic area.

Hotels in Miami – Visit colourful, noisy Parrot Jungle

Parrot Jungle is great for kids and all the hotels in Miami will be able to give you directions. This is a great opportunity to get up close and personal with some of our most colourful and intelligent feathered ancestors in a ‘natural’ habitat. Hotels in Miami? Take your pick. This one’s nice. South Miami Hampton Inn is just off 70th Avenue in Dadeland (more echoes of CSI, a glossy shopper’s heaven within easy reach of Viscaya Museum, Fairchild Garden, Metro Zoo the unforgettable cheesecake factory. No, really. A cheesecake factory. Brace yourselves!

Here are just some of the hotels and resorts we sell in Miami

Cheap Holidays to Miami -  Modern City, Great Beaches

Cheap holidays to Miami offers the visitor a vibrant city with plenty of colour.  The city is very multicultural and has a strong latin influence. It also has great nightlife, excellent weather and some of the best beaches for your Florida holidays.  Orlando it isn’t, but it’s only a few hundred miles away. A short flight or not too far to drive considering the vast size of the USA, and you could experience both the theme park splendour of Orlando AND the cosmopolitan metropolis bursting with attractions, water sports, nightlife, and shopping that is a Miami holiday.

Cheap Miami Holidays -  Many Great Attractions

It’s the third most popular city with tourists in the entire US after LA and New York. It’s a cosmopolitan metropolis with plenty of attractions, nightlife, and shopping. There are miles of shoreline, museums, parks, and a great line-up of restaurants.  Many of the best attractions are in downtown miami (the commercial heart of the city), and some are based in the surrounding communities (such as Little Havanna).  Miami holidays have something for everyone.

Miami Holidays -  Wonderful Beaches

Although its a modern city with large skyscrapers, Miami is probably best known for its excellent beaches. South Beach is notourious for its pale sands, clear blue seas and Art Deco buildings.  The resort is great for relaxing, and rain is extremely rare.  Miami Beach is the livelier resort, with more in the way of water sports and exciting nightlife.

Flights to Miami – Learn a few words of Spanish

Flights to Miami land you in a city where half the population is Hispanic, mainly from Cuba. So Spanish is spoken everywhere, probably more so than English. Do the decent thing, learn a few Spanish phrases and you’ll fit right in. Seriously, they expect you to make an effort. A hundred years ago you wouldn’t have dreamed of booking flights to Miami, even if they’d invented aeroplanes back then. It was a swampy hell hole full of mosquitoes and itchy, irritable settlers. Cross people with guns… never a good idea. These days it’s a lot different. Much of Miami is clean and smart. And Miami International Airport is one of the world’s busiest serving more than 80 airlines flying to a whopping 150 destinations.

Miami Flights – Art and culture at the airport

We used to know the Spanish for ‘my donkey is bored’ but we’ve forgotten it. A case of use it or lose it, we suppose. We haven’t needed to express our donkey’s boredom very often, if at all.  Choose flights to Miami and enjoy the home of the world’s longest conga line, almost 120,000 people doing the conga won a place in the record books in 1988. What a brilliant claim to fame. Miami airport’s claim to fame is that it has its very own Division of Fine Arts & Cultural Affairs, set up to enrich the airport’s environment using contemporary artwork. So if your flights to Miami give you the time take in an exhibition, catch some culture or find out about local artists.

Flights to Miami – 138 destinations worldwide

Miami airport employs a staggering 35,500 people. From there you can fly to and from 138 worldwide destinations. Pick flights to Miami’s tropical climate if you love things hot and humid, but bear in mind that it is pretty wet in summer. In the winter it is cooler and drier, much more comfortable. Miami temperatures have only gone into three figures once, in 1942, when it hit 100F. But the humidity can make it feel much hotter, up to 110F. Some love it, others hate it… we think it is a bit like trying to breathe soup. Once, in 1977, they had some snow, but they haven’t had so much as a flake since then. Take fights to Miami and use TransFloridian coach service to explore further; they run a daily service to Islamorada, Key Largo, Marathon and Key West.

Steamy, Spanish and exotic. Book your flights to Miami here.

Bass Museum of Art - Miami Attractions

TheArt Deco building in Miami houses a collection of exhibits including paintings, sculpxure, and textiles. The permanent collection includes European paintings from the 15th to early 20th centuries from Renaissance, Medieval and baroque eras. Rubens, Rembrandt and Toulouse-Lautrec all have work in here.

And as this is over 200 miles from Orlando, there’s no multimedia interactive aspect to it You can’t ‘take a ride round a super-sized Rubens masterpiece’, you can’t ‘use the interactive Leonardo Sculpxuring Machine® to design a statue of yourself, watch as it’s instantly carved by lasers, and then buy it in the gift shop (although that is a good idea), or anything else typically Orlando because you aren’t in Orlando. This is Miami and it’s very different!

Miami Beach - Attractions in Miami

Part of the bigger Miami Beach, it's considered to be America's answer to the French Riviera, with some Art deco thrown in for good measure. Ricky Martin and Gloria Estefan frequent the bars, restaurants, hotels and night clubs. Aspiring models come here to be discovered, and sun themselves on the beautiful white beach. You never know, your luck might be in and a new career beckon. You wouldn’t be the first person from the UK to find that Miami Beach has a little more to offer than Manchester, which has so much to answer for.

Miami Seaquarium - Miami Attractions

Miami Seaquarium has exciting shows, great exhibits and enjoyable, educational presentations in a beautifully landscaped 35 acre park overlooking Biscayne Bay. You'll see whales, sea lions, turtles, sharks, manatees, birds, alligators and more. Most of them are real animals too, not people in costumes or animatronics like *some* of the ones you’ll find a few hundred miles up the road.

There are direct flights to Miami international Airport that take about nine hours. However, the Port of Miami is the cruise ship capital of the US, so you might well be arriving here by cruise ship, which from the UK is something of a commitment as the waves mid-Atlantic can be pretty angry.

A much better way to make your acquaintance with Miami if you’re aiming for a Caribbean cruise is to arrive by air a few days early, do some exploring, get acclimatised, and wave good bye to the port of Miami for a week or more from the deck of your ship!

Miami Music Conference - Miami Holidays

This is a yearly celebration of music, particularly House and Dance, filling most of the hotels and clubs in Miami 24hours a day, with the worlds best DJs to entertain. Pool parties at swish hotels, clubs and beach parties are full of the world elite clubbers. Don your white suit and Ray Bands for this amazing week in Miami.

The event usually takes place in March during spring break, but the dates change every year. See www.wintermusicconference.com for more details.
