Busch Gardens - Naples and Marco island Attractions Busch Gardens is a theme park offering an array of attractions based on exotic encounters with the Africa. There are thrilling rides, a massive zoo featuring more than 2,700 animals, live shows, restaurants, shops and games. There are new attractions appearing all the time too, such as SheiKra, which carries you 200 feet into the air at 45 degrees (we think that’s the angle, not the temperature) then hurtles you 70 mph toward the ground at a 90 degree angle. The Shell Factory - Attractions in Naples and Marco Island Holidays The beaches along this bit of the Florida coast are peppered with shells, and not the kind that litter the fields of northern France either. There really are a lot of shells here, we suspect they import them. Either way, it's no surprise that the largest collection of seashells, fossils, corals and sponges in the world is near Fort Myers. And there's more, it’s not all shells. There's also a zoo, a wildlife refuge, a restaurant, miniature golf course, and boating lake, which makes it sound a little like Southport, but there’s no resemblance, really. None at all. Not that there would be anything wrong with a slight resemblance to Southport, you just wouldn’t want to have flown thousands of miles only to say to each other: ‘oh, it’s just like Southport’. Marco Island Attractions Marco Island is a bustling little place on the northern edge of West Florida, an area that's known as Ten Thousand Islands. Marco is hemmed in by the Rookery Bay Nature Preserve to the north, and in the south the Ten Thousand Islands National Wildlife Preserve, Collier-Seminole State Park and the Everglades National Park There's good shopping, and super restaurants as well. Lee County Manatee park - Attractions in Naples and Marco island The Lee County Manatee Park on the Orange River in eastern Fort Myers is the place to see these huge walrus-like creatures in their natural habitat. No mother-in-law jokes please. The creatures can weigh in at 3500lbs and grow to over 12 feet (yes yes, we’re talking about the manatees, not mother-in-laws). They are a warm water creature and a great way to see them wallowing about is to hire a kayak at the manatee park and gingerly row yourself among them.
