Hotels in Paphos – Revel in five star luxury at the Annabel

All hotels in Paphos give a warm welcome. So do the locals. There’s nothing like a cool drink or a fragrant, strong cup of Cypriot coffee in a good tavern. Simple pleasures, but you can spend a few quid on Paphos hotels if you can spare them! The five star Annabel Hotel overlooks amazing tropical water gardens, superbly luxurious. It sits above Paphos’s picturesque fishing harbour and ancient fort. Boy is this place posh. Every room and suite has a private balcony, everything’s cool and clean and elegant, and they’ve gone to town on attention to detail. If you fancy hiding away for a romantic break they even have private garden suites. As hotels in Paphos go, this one’s at the top of the pile.

Paphos Hotels – Keep your eye open for naked goddesses!

Aphrodite, goddess of beauty and love, emerged from the sea at Paphos. And Aphrodite’s Rock marks the spot, on one of the most beautiful beaches in Cyprus. The Roman Hotel fits the bill for mid-range budgets. Not all Paphos hotels cost a fortune. The 3 star Roman Hotel is an amazing place. Step inside and you’re suddenly (and a bit startlingly!) immersed head to toe in Greek history and mythology. This place is just like a greek palace – really – and not many hotels in Paphos offer such weird but charming accommodation. If you’re an eccentric Brit you’ll love this crazy place.

Hotels in Paphos – Yoga and Indian head massage

The Tombs of the Kings would be a really cool place to stay. But you’re not allowed. They’re a vast complex of underground dating back to the 4th century BC, carved out of solid rock. On the other hand, a good bed has its advantages! Good family hotels in Paphos include the Nereus Hotel, a comfortable family run place in the middle of the main tourist area of town. Have fun at their themed event – they do Greek and Italian nights, grill nights and – if you’re homesick – a very good roast Sunday dinner.

Here are just some of the hotels and resorts we sell in Paphos

Pathos Holidays -  A Lovely Resort

Paphos offers lovely resorts, lovely beaches, and real history and is therefore a great choice for your Cyprus holidays. Paphos (often spelled Pafos too) is the capital of the western region of Cyprus. There’s the coastal resort area of Kato Paphos and the town of Pano Paphos, which is just inland. It’s not got a massive population, but it’s a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) world cultural heritage site. It got the airport only about 20 years ago, so is a relatively young destination. The beautiful old harbour quickly made a Paphos holiday popular though and it now attracts approaching a million visitors a year. Cheap all inclusive Cyprus holidays are available throughout the year. Making Paphos an excellent destination for culture and price.

Paphos Holidays -  Lovely Beaches

Paphos has year round sunshine, and some of the best beaches in Cyprus. The warm temperatures and cool sea breezes make it the perfect place to relax.  If you like watersports, you can rent anything from pedalos to windsurfs. You can even try parasailing. Paphos is a lively resort with many bars and nightclubs. It has some very good restaurants and some excellent shops. You can find everything from local markets to Debenhams department stores.

Cheap Holidays in Paphos -  Many Historical Attractions

There’s a lovely seaside promenade in Paphos where restaurants and hotels abound, an archaeological museum, the Byzantine castle of Paphos (Byzantine, in case you didn’t get it last time: the art and style of the Eastern Roman Empire from about AD 330 to about 1450), the Tombs of the Kings, St Paul’s Pillar are close, and the Temple of Aphrodite, that saucy goddess of love, beauty, and naughtiness is handy too. There are a few high quality golf courses within 20 minutes of Paphos, notably Tasada Golf Club, which is 18 holes set in the grounds of a 12th century monastery. That’s right; golf wasn’t invented until the 15th century, smart alec. This wasn’t always a golf course okay? It was a monastery for a few years first. Paphos holidays offers something for everyone.

Flights to Paphos – Historic and pretty, heavenly beaches

Pahos is home to Cyprus’s second biggest airport, owned and run by the same company as Larnaca airport with much the same flavour and facilities. Take flights to Paphos – or Pafos as the locals call it – and you’ll land just under ten miles from Paphos centre. There aren’t any hotels at the airport itself but there are loads of places to stay in town if you’re there on business. Choose flights to Paphos airport and hit Paphos itself, a small resort with a unique flavour of its own. Nice and intimate with everything within walking distance. Nearby Coral Bay is absolutely gorgeous, one of the most stunning beaches on the island. If you‘re imagining that flights to Paphos will deliver you into some sort of paradise, then Coral Bay will prove you right.

Paphos Flights – Hit the hot sand!

Paphos International airport handled more than 1.7 million holidaymakers in 2007 so although flights to Paphos land you in a relatively small airport, it isn’t exactly deserted. In fact it is a well equipped place with twenty check-in desks. We like that; we are not temperamentally suited to queuing. At the same time, it is small enough so that even the directionally challenged will be hard pushed to get lost. And you’ll never have far to run for your ‘plane. Just five gates and fourteen aircraft stands. Small but perfectly formed. Flights to Paphos international airport offer all the usual useful facilities like cafes and bars, duty free and gifty stuff.

Flights to Paphos – Ditch the ice cream and head for the hills

If flights to Paphos mean more to you than getting sand in your knickers and snarfing beer, hire a car and head up the magnificent Troodos mountains. A good place to hide from the relentless sunshine if you’re feeling a bit browbeaten by it. The forests are cool and inviting, populated by real wildlife instead of people having a wild time. I’m going to sound like your mum now. Take a fleece or something if you go mountain exploring. You’d find it hard to believe from down on the scorching hot beach but it gets cold at 6,500 feet above sea level. As you can see, flights to Paphos offer a bit more than the usual holidaymaker beach fare and it’s a great base for some serious inland adventures.

Tombs of kings - Paphos Attractions

Although there aren’t actually any kings buried here at all, the tombs are impressive indeed. They are burial caves carved into the rock decorated with columns dating back over 2000 years. You can go in and explore by yourself, searching through the tombs, even the parts that go underground carved into the hill.

St Paul’s Pillar - Attractions in Paphos

Once an imposing Gothic church stood near the basilica, but it was destroyed in the 16th century. However, you can still see some of it, especially St Paul's Pillar, which according to tradition, St Paul was tied to it and lashed by the Roman governor of Paphos. Charming.

Byzantine Museum - Paphos Attractions

Come and see first hand icons from the Byzantine era of Paphos, Cyprus. As opposed to second hand icons.

You can fly directly to Paphos Airport in about four and a half hours from the UK. It’s the smaller airport on Cyprus and is the gateway to Paphos, Coral Bay and Limassol. It’s just 15 km east of the city centre.
