Hotels in Limassol – Cyprus’s second biggest city

Limassol is Cyprus’s second biggest city and about 170,000 people live there. So hotels in Limassol aren’t exactly in short supply. Busy, bustling and – like the rest of the island - packed with history. Ever since the crusades in the Middle Ages, Limassol has been a key trading place for wine and sugar cane. And there’s a strong UK connection. Richard the Lionheart married in Limassol and made his wife the Queen of England. Treat yourself like royalty (sorry, couldn’t resist!) at the 5 star Four Seasons Hotel. It is monstrously luxurious, right on the beach midway between the Larnaca and Pafos airports. Unsurprisingly it offers superb facilities.

Limassol Hotels – Gorgeous beaches and excellent water sports

Limassol hotels give you access to more than just beaches and watersports. The ancient kingdom of Kourion includes a fantastic Greco Roman theatre, built way back in the second century BC (how did they do that?!) and now restored into a music and theatre venue. Cool place. The Holiday Inn Limassol – part of the chain we all know and love - is a near the Eurovision Song Contest venue… always good to know! And it’s within east reach of the city centre and quaint old town. Like most hotels in Limassol city centre you’ll be close to more shops, restaurants, bars and clubs than you can shake a stick at. As well as all the usual fun water sports and beach stuff.

Hotels in Limassol – Unforgettable Curium Beach

One of the island’s most beautiful beaches, Curium is a stunner. Or a ‘stunna’, as The Sun would say. The seas here are wild and rough and the beach itself is picture-postcard pretty, overlooked by circling hang gliders. There’s a Roman Amphitheatre directly above the beach, which is also great for sailing. Recommended hotels in Limassol? Try the Sylva Hotel, complete with good restaurant, friendly in-house bar, disabled facilities and a brilliant games room. Plus massage services, a library, an outdoor pool and cheap Wi-Fi. Not just a good, solid Limassol hotel but a bargain too.

Here are just some of the hotels and resorts we sell in Limassol

Limassol Holiday  -  The Biggest Resort in Cyprus

Limassol, the largest Cyprus holidays resort, has the Troodos Mountains as a backdrop. The Troodos Mountains mark the middle of the Greek part of Cyprus (the Turkish part of Cyprus makes up about 38 per cent of the island). They cover most of inner Cyprus. This is a very cosmopolitan city with plenty of charm.  There are some trendy bars and lively clubs for those that enjoy nightlife.  The city has a great combination of traditional charm and a modern feel. Limassol holidays offer much to do and see.

Limassol Holidays -  Many Attractions

The city has some excellent public beaches.  They rarely get overcrowded, and there are plenty of watersports to choose from.  You should definitely try the water, because the Mediterranean is great for a swim.  There are two fantastic waterparks close by too.  For those who like historical attractions, the old town has some excellent museums.  The city harbour is a great attraction too.

Holidays in Limassol
-  Great for Shopping

Limassol has plenty of shops for both your consumer goods of choice and locally made souvenirs. Take note that clothes can be made to measure in a few days. St Andrews Street has cute buildings and many overhanging terraces with small shops under them. Makarios Avenue is where to head for the posh shops.  Its easy to find a bargain here. All inclusive Cyprus deals are available throughout the year so the shopping isn't the only bargain on offer. Limassol holidays offer something for everyone.

Flights to Limassol – An hour from both Cyprus airports

Book flights to Limassol and you’ll find yourself landing at either of Cyprus’s airports, Paphos to the west or Larnaca to the east. Whatever, both are only an hour or so from central Limassol. Once you’re there, transfer and public transport facilities at both airports are excellent and the whole island’s your oyster. Many package holidays include transfers so get on the coach and enjoy the scenery on the way to wherever you’re staying. Flights to Limassol? There’s bucketloads to choose from – this is an enduringly popular destination, much less manic than Ayia Napa and offering a huge range of fun, serious and silly activities both in and out of the sea.

Limassol Flights – Hit the gorgeous beach at Dasoudi

The lovely Dasoudi Beach is Limassol’s main beach, and there’s another goodie just west of Limassol’s new harbour - a spectacle in itself – called Lady's Mile Beach. A gorgeous beach with really good facilities. Shame about the noisy RAF jets flying overhead but after a while you tune them out. Ideal for ‘plane spotters, we suppose…  If you didn’t imagine flights to Limassol landing you in an army zone, give Lady’s Mile a miss and head for Governors Beach instead; clean, sandy, quiet and worth the trek.

Flights to Limassol – The finest retail therapy on Cyprus

If you feel that flights to Limassol aren’t worth the bother without the opportunity for some serious retail therapy, Limassol offers some of the best shopaholic fodder in Cyprus. Hit sophisticated Makarios Avenue and enjoy smart boutiques and fragrant designer label havens. Or enjoy St Andrew's Street, home to traditional Cyprus shops and goods. Sadly, some high street names from the UK have crept in there too. We prefer to feel as though we’re actually abroad when we’re on holiday, not in the local shopping centre. Flights to Limassol, whether you choose Pahos or Larnaca airport, offer trouble free check in and check out facilities plus the usual range of useful bits and bobs from baby changing facilities to banks and foreign exchange, cashpoint machines, bars and duty free shopping.

Attractions Limassol - Limassol Castle -  Cyprus

The part that’s standing now was finished in the early 14th century, but you can still see some of the earlier fortifications inside the walls. Richard the Lionheart married Berengaria here. The Turks took over the castle in 1570 and used it as a prison for a bit.

Limassol Attractions - Watermania Waterpark - Cyprus

Oooh we do like a waterpark at Beat the Brochure. This is not themed on ancient Greece like the one in Ayia Napa, so can’t claim to be ‘the largest themed waterpark in the world’, but it’s lots of fun all the same. This is in beautiful Fasouri area, just 15 minutes out of town, and worth a trip as it has over a dozen huge slides and interactive water features to keep your children cool and hopefully wear them out too!
You can fly to either Larnaca or Paphos airports, there’s only 5 miles in it – Larnaca airport is about 44 miles away and Pahpos 39 miles away. There are buses, taxis, and share taxis known as Service Taxis, which you have to book by phone and will work out cheaper for up to seven people.
