Hotels in Oman – A diverse and surprising destination
OK, there’s sand. But Oman, AKA the Sultanate of Oman, is surprisingly diverse and rich in natural beauty. Many hotels in Oman are new, built specifically to cater for the country’s growing tourist industry. So there’s an impressive purpose built infrastructure securely in place, complete with a wide range of great Oman hotels and a wealth of attractions. Oman offers holidaymakers anything from OTT five star deluxe to basic accommodation like studios and apartments. The three star Ramee Guestline hotel is in Muscat, very close to the beach. Like most hotels in Oman it offers spotless accommodation and it’s surprisingly good value. The delights of Qurum Natural Park are close by, as is the very cosmopolitan Qurum shopping centre.
Oman Hotels – Gardens, national parks and beaches
Oman loves green! Far from being a desert country, Oman is home to hundreds of gorgeous gardens, a few great national parks and lovely floral displays along every road. All Oman’s parks are free and many Oman hotels have been built with nature lovers in mind, giving easy access to the countryside. Go for Qurum, Riyam or Al Naseem, three of the largest parks. What about posh Oman hotels? The five star Grand Hyatt Hotel is posh enough for most people, with exotic rooms decorated in intricate traditional Omani style. Enjoy their deluxe bed linen, fat genuine feather duvets, marble baths and even – the luxury! – massive walk in showers. All located on the delightful Shatti Al Qurm beach, overlooking the Gulf of Oman. Wow.
Hotels in Oman – Forts and castles wherever you look
Oman’s forts and castles tell the story of a violent and fascinating history. In total there are more than 500 forts and castles, enough to satisfy the most obsessive history buff, and many hotels in Oman have been built accordingly, giving tourists good access to these historical treats. But Oman is also a prime destination for business. The Golden Tulpi Seeb Hotel is four star, a mere kilometre (half a mile or so in old money) from the city’s airport and the ideal choice for business travellers heading for the international exhibition centre. It even has its own exclusive private beach. Cool or what?
