Think of a budget then double it. It isn’t just property developers who fall foul of mounting costs. Holidaymakers can get a bit of a shock too. You’ve found low cost flights and booked yourself a value for money hotel. All sorted? Nope. Add on food and drink, fun, nights out and entertainment and your holiday budget can hit the roof. What to do? All inclusive holidays might be the answer. Book an all inclusive holiday and you can rest assured than no matter how much you eat, drink and get merry, your happy holiday bubble won’t be burst by a whopping great bar tab. Check the small print when you book all inclusive holidays and make sure you’re 100% sure what’s covered in the deal.

When we were writing about hotels in the United Arab Emirates, we were surprised by how many of the hotels offered all inclusive holidays. You can stay all inclusive in some of the most amazingly posh and glitzy resorts in holiday hot spots Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Oman. The same goes for exotic places like Cuba, Barbados and the Hawaiian islands. In some countries, the resorts are all inclusive simply because it isn’t particularly safe to venture outside the resort’s boundaries… all very well but it’s a bit like being in a zoo.

So, what do you need to take with you on an all inclusive holiday? Many include flights and transfers, trips and excursions, entertainment and water sports as well as your food and drink, which is a real bargain. If you’re a dedicated shopaholic or just a generous type, take enough money to cover souvenirs and gifts. Plus some emergency cash just in case…
